R2R relies heavily on our small army of volunteers. They offer our clients opportunities for renewal of social contact and bring a variety of invaluable life experiences and skills.
We are always looking for additional pairs of hands, so would welcome volunteers from all walks of life who are prepared to give some of their time to help deliver the great work of the charity.
Below you will find various volunteering opportunities during our opening times between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday.

Day Centre Support Volunteers
The role requires supportive and empathic individuals to provide practical support for the day to day running of Genesis Centre, working with individuals who are homeless or vulnerably housed.
You will be working as part of small team carrying out a variety of tasks. These tasks will include administrative duties such as manning the reception and record keeping, signposting and ensuring service users can liaise with relevant support agencies. You will also be required to provide practical support such as managing the washing of clothes, providing service users with access to showers and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of Genesis Centre itself.
No experience is necessary, but we require people who can show patience, commitment, and an enthusiasm to support those who require our support.
Day Centre Volunteer Team Leader
The role requires experienced volunteers to provide practical support and leadership for the day to day running of Genesis Centre, to individuals who are homeless or vulnerably housed.
You will lead a small team carrying out a variety of tasks including kitchen duties and practical support to oversee the efficient and safe running of the service. You will ensure you have sufficient volunteer cover on your shift by communicating with identified volunteers, ensuring correct policies and procedures are being adhered to, whilst also carrying out a number of duties to ensure a safe environment for our service users.
Experience in working with teams to provide support services is desired, but most importantly we require people who can show patience, commitment, and an enthusiasm to support those in need.
We would love you to come and join one of our brilliant Kitchen Teams providing homeless and vulnerably housed people with a free lunchtime meal.
Using surplus food provided to us, you will help us prepare, cook, serve and clean. The role will require you to be creative (as we are not always sure what ingredients we will have) and work closely with your team to ensure that the food is delivered on time and in line with all health and hygiene requirements.
Whilst you do not need to have previous kitchen experience you will need to have compassion for our client group and a desire to have a positive impact on someone’s day. Most important of all is a willingness to roll up your sleeves and ‘chip’ in!
